The Injury & Special Populations (ISP), ISP/Rehab series designed to teach you how to increase and stabilize your clients’ function, while offering rehabilitation techniques that incorporate a variety of equipment. Each DVD will expand your knowledge of functional fitness and rehab programs, teaching you the benefits of using different pieces of equipment in your clients’ workouts.

Peripheral joint stabilization on equipment: offer your clients a variety of tools that will assist them in reaching their rehab and fitness goals. Using the cadillac, stability chair and barrels you will learn how to rehabilitate upper and lower extremity issues and target specific areas of restriction or weakness in order to improve strength, coordination and endurance.

Peripheral joint stabilization with reformer & vertical frame: help your clients overcome pain and restricted mobility on the rehab reformer with vertical frame. You will learn how to use exercise to clinically address both acute injuries and chronic conditions. This comprehensive routine is designed to rehabilitate upper and lower extremity issues and to challenge the strength and coordination of high-level clients. As the range of movement increases, daily activities will be performed with greater ease.

Spinal, pelvic & scapular stabilization on equipment: stott pilates master instructor trainers moira merrithew and melanie byford-young will demonstrate the most appropriate exercises for various rehabilitation needs. You will develop your client’s spinal, pelvic, and scapular stability while working on muscle recruitment using the cadillac, stability chair and barrels. This functional repertoire offers exercise options in sitting, standing and kneeling positions and allows for deep specificity with any joint or movement pattern.

Spinal, pelvic & scapular stabilization with reformer & vertical frame: learn how a mindful selection of exercises, cues, and levels of resistance can specifically target each type of muscle and achieve optimal results. This workout focuses on the rehabilitation of the spine, pelvis, and scapula on the rehab reformer with vertical frame. Help develop strength, mobility and coordination with tips on how to monitor local stability and muscular recruitment patterns.

Melanie Byford-Young has earned the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Advanced Certificate in manual and manipulative physiotherapy. She has also taken specialized orthopedic courses on the shoulder, cervical spine, foot and running mechanics and has taught in Canada, the U.S., Spain and Iceland.
