Fitness expert Kelly Coffey-Meyer leads this invigorating 30-minute traditional weight-lifting workout, integrating the use of active rests into the program in order to yield maximum toning and strengthening results with optimum efficiency.

Both workouts feature “active rest” segments between the weight-room-style exercises. These heavy-dumbbell routines are effective, but tough — the “rests” provide a motivating break just when you need it (they include both core-conditioning and aerobic-paced movements). The first workout targets your back, legs and chest; the second shapes your biceps, triceps and shoulders. Kelly Coffey-Meyer combines classic exercises with subtly “tweaked” variations (e.g. a push-up with a balance element, a squat with added pulses). No-nonsense cuing and upbeat music.
